Heavy Horror

Working Title: Heavy Horror
Publisher: Fetid Press
Release Date: Summer/Fall 2011

What we’re looking for:

This is a horror anthology in which the inspiration for each story will be derived from the title of a heavy metal song. While the title of the song should also serve as the title of the story, the plot, should not simply be a prose rendition of the selected song’s lyrics . . . the key word here is inspired. For example, Crazy Train might be turned into a short story about a train in which nerve gas is released, turning all the passengers into blood-thirsty killers. Classic metal, death metal, thrash, progressive . . . all are welcome. However, we don’t want to have a book with five different stories all entitled Reign In Blood or to have every story derived from a single artist, so feel free to think beyond the better known songs and bands.

We’re looking at a minimum 3,000 word count with no maximum. We’re looking for one time anthology and electronic rights to your story for six months after the publication date, after which you are free to re-sell it, but we do reserve the right to use your story for as long as there is a demand for the book. In exchange, you’ll get one contributor’s copy and 40% of any additional copies you’d like to order.

Standard submission rules apply with the following exceptions: any words you want in italics should be italicized, not underlined. Please send as either .rtf or .doc format. If sending as .doc, please ensure that it is saved so that it will be backward compatible with Word 95.  Included wit your manuscript, please include the band which recorded the song your title is derived from.

Submissions should be sent to heavyhorror@hotmail.com

Dark Matter: The Science of Horror

Working Title: Dark Matter: The Science of Horror
Publisher: Fetid Press
Release Date: Spring/Summer 2011

What we’re looking for:

This is a horror anthology in which all of the stories somehow center around science. Zombies, vampires, mad scientists, werewolves, zombies, or any type of horror your twisted mind can dream up: all are welcome in this book. Likewise, the science can be anything from astronomy to quantum mathematics. Stories can also be set in any time period with a minimum word count of 3,000 words, however we’ve not setting a maximum count so you have plenty of space in which to explore your ideas. Sex is okay as long as it’s necessary to the plot and reprints are also fine as long as you currently retain the rights to the story.

A closing date will be announced several weeks before the anthology is full.
